PennDOT Sets Public Meeting for Routes 220 and 405 Intersection Study

By Staff | Sep 10, 2013

MONTOURSVILLE – PennDOT Engineering District 3-0 will host a public meeting for the Routes 220 and 405 Intersection Congestion Relief Study on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hughesville High School Cafeteria located at 349 Cemetery Drive in Hughesville.

The focus of the congestion relief study is the intersection of Routes 220 and 405 in Hughesville Borough and Wolf Township. All residents, business owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to participate. The meeting will be an open-house format, with informational displays and opportunities to talk one-on-one with study representatives. Various displays will provide details on study background, study objectives and traffic levels of service. The public will be encouraged to offer opinions on existing traffic operations at the intersection.

Serving an average daily traffic (ADT) volume of over 14,000 vehicles per day, the intersection is a vital connection between Williamsport and areas to the north and northeast. The purpose of the study is to identify possible solutions to the congestion issues at the intersection.

The public meeting is an important component of the congestion-relief study. The main objective is to collect input from individuals who regularly travel through the intersection as to what the current congestion issues are and their thoughts on the possible congestion-relief strategies. Information collected from the meeting will be used to develop congestion-relief alternatives for consideration.
