Montgomery locals
The winds and rain did not deter the celebration of fall. The village of Elimsport ushered in autumn with a festival held this past weekend. It was great to see so many of our community members and out of town visitors involved in the event. Stands were sponsored by area churches, school groups and community organizations. Guests were offered tasty treats such as funnel cakes, ice cream, and homemade apple butter. Children were entertained with rides and games.
Highlights of the day were a kick off parade featuring the Montgomery Marching band and cheerleaders, and special musical guests such as the McNett Band and sisters, Morgan and Bethanie Patterson. Guests were sheltered from the storms by a newly built pavilion. This annual celebration is held on the grounds of the Elimsport United Methodist Church.
There will be no September Breakfast at the Oak Grove Community Center.
Revitalize Montgomery continues to work to beautify our community. They met last week to discuss funding sources for some upcoming projects. Business owners are taking a large part in tree plantings and store fronts.
The Montgomery Area Historical Society is working with the Montgomery Area Public Library to feature historical and/or community window displays. Current photos highlight summer events held in the borough and surrounding area.
The Montgomery Borough Council holds its meetings at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of every month. Start time is 6:30PM. The public is encouraged to attend.
