Montgomery Locals Feb. 5
This past week was filled with talk of the Super Bowl game. To be completely honest, I tuned in this year for the national anthem performed by opera singer, Renee Flemming. As a music teacher, I was excited about the prospect of a trained vocalist being highlighted in such a popular sporting event.
Another interesting finding this week was news of Montgomery holding a 5K run in early April. The event is going to be sponsored by the high school LEO Club. Area businesses are encouraged to support the race with a monetary sponsorship. Registration to run or walk the event will be open for a reduced fee until March 15. I will be providing further details on this event as they develop.
Sunnybrook Meadows Therapeutic Riding Park is still looking for volunteers. Volunteers are needed Tuesday or Thursday evenings and Friday mornings beginning in the spring. To reserve a spot, call Elizabeth at 570-547-1565.
Members of Revitalize Montgomery will be meeting twice a month. The next meeting is scheduled for Weds. Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. at Shirey’s Outdoor Supply and again on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Tickle’s music and Montgomery Cafe. This meeting will be at 6 p.m. so interested citizens and business owners who work can make it. Two options are given to encourage more members. They want to build committees to work on events and programs seek grants for more streetscape efforts.
