Odyssey of Mind qualifies for states

By Staff | Mar 18, 2014

Congratulations to Kelsey Roberts, Cheyenne Lynch, and Emily Winder. Montgomery High School had a tremendous showing at this past week’s Region Band competition, sending three players on to the State level of competition. The State convention will be held in eight days in Hershey.

Not to be outdone, the OM (Odyssey of the Mind) teams from Montgomery Elementary through High School took four first place finishes and one second place finish on Saturday, March 15. This qualifies all five teams for States.

A reminder that the Montgomery LEO Club is helping to sponsor the first 5K Walk/Run race to be held in town. I registered to walk the race with family and friends. I have been training to run it, but the weather has not been cooperating with my workout schedule. It would be great to see a large turn out for this worthwhile cause. Registration is now open for the April 5 event. It will be called the “1st Annual Montgomery Leo’s Riverside 5K Run/Walk for Vision.”

Revitalize Montgomery is planning events starting in April for the second Saturday of every month. The first one will be an Open House on April 12th. It may be called the “Spring Fling” with a focus on home improvement projects, builders, landscapers. More details will be coming up later. There may be some food trucks there as well and possibly activities for children.

Attend the next meeting, and bring your ideas and suggestions! The next R.M meeting will be March 26th at 6 p.m. at the Tickle’s Music Store. And be sure to share comments and ideas on our Facebook page.

St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church on Route 405 Montgomery will be hosting a chicken and ham pot pie dinner on Tuesday, March 25th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Handicap accessible.

Please consider contacting me at cmcnear@montasd.org with upcoming Easter celebrations and events. I would love to highlight area egg hunts as well as church services.
