Lime Bluff Park and the East Lycoming Recreation Authority announces the election of 2014 board Officers. Left to right: Thomas J. Zavalydriga, Vice-Chairman, Brenda Smith Asst. Sec./Treas., Bruce Little Secretary, Jeff Bower, Chairman, Joseph Smith, Treasure.

HUGHESVILLE – On April 26 the park will team up with Comcast for “Comcast Care Day” a community wide volunteer day from eight to one o’clock to prepare the park for the summer opening. Members of the community are asked to volunteer a half day to clean, paint and repair the park. Comcast will supply T-shirts, lunch, and water to community volunteers who help. Volunteers are encouraged to bring the whole family for an outing and help the park recover from the harsh winter.

Registration will be held from eight to eight-thirty. Activities will include mulching the playground, painting, pruning the shrubs, repairing the trails, and other minor repair activities. “We need your help,” announced Saundra Schmidt who has maintained a lot of the flowers over the seasons. “All activities in the park are done by volunteers,” she said.

“We are looking forward to the annual Community Day Festival in September and hope to have the fireplace completed and host an evening of free music,” said board member Tom Zavalydriga.

The park provides two rental pavilions for picnics for community organizations, clubs and the general public. The park features walking trails, picnic areas, a ball field, horse shoe pits, bocce ball courts, and an eighteen hole disc golf course, plus a multi purpose field. Community members use the fields for various activities including flying of “electric radio controlled model airplanes.”

“We hope you will join us in preparing the park for the summer,” added Zavalydriga. “Make it a great start to the summer, do a little work and enjoy a lunch after helping us with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you on April 26, 2014.”
