Public Meeting for Routes 220/405 Congestion Relief Study

By Staff | Apr 15, 2014

PennDOT Engineering District 3-0 will host a second public meeting for the Routes 220 and 405 Congestion Relief Study from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 at Hughesville High School, located at 349 Cemetery Drive, Hughesville. The meeting will take place in the school cafeteria.

The focus of the congestion relief study is the intersection of Routes 220 and 405 in Hughesville Borough and Wolf Township. All residents, business owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to participate. The meeting will be an open house format, with informational displays and opportunities to talk one-on-one with project representatives. Various displays will provide details on four potential intersection improvement alternatives. The public will be encouraged to provide comments on the four alternatives via a questionnaire.

Serving an average daily traffic (ADT) volume of over 14,000 vehicles per day, the intersection of Routes 220 and 405, is a vital connection between Williamsport and areas to the north and northeast. The purpose of the study is to identify possible solutions to the congestion issues at the intersection.

These public meetings are an important component of the congestion relief study. The previous public meeting was held last September for the purpose of collecting input from individuals who regularly travel through the intersection. The main objective is this second public meeting is to present the four potential improvement alternatives that were developed in response to the first meeting.
