Hughesville locals Apr. 23
After the long winter season and cold temperatures, it was a glorious Easter weekend, wasn’t it? I noticed that some of my tulips are so determined to bloom that they aren’t waiting for their stems to grow, but the flower is developing just above the base of the leaves! It looks rather strange, but I am glad they are blooming and not buried beneath snow.
It seems that work has been done on most of the trees that were marked for trimming and the stacks of limbs and branches along some curbs are quite impressive! We will all see an improvement in the appearance of our lovely tree-lined streets as the summer foliage develops.
Are you interested in purchasing locally produced food that is chemical and pesticide-free? Are you a local grower of such organic food products? You are invited to a free informational meeting called “Let’s build a food co-op”, this Thursday evening at the Hughesville Public Library.?All graduates of Hughesville High School are encouraged to attend the annual HHS Alumni Banquet on the Saturday evening of Memorial Day weekend. The Alumni Association is doing the final planning for this year’s events which will include special recognition given to graduates from class years ending in 4 and 9. Don’t forget that the Rotary Club’s E-Cycling (Electronics Recycling) Event is this Saturday!
