Is there anything that announces spring’s presence more convincingly than forsythia bushes? This week has seen these cheery yellow blooms, as well as tulips and daffodils of dozens of hues. It won’t be long until the leaves unfurl on all the trees, and lilacs will be fully in bloom, too.

Happy Mother’s Day! Amid all these wonderful sights and aromas of spring, we take time to honor our mothers and grandmothers and to celebrate the time we enjoy with them. We’ll be traveling to celebrate the day with my mother-in-law. I am sure there will be many cookouts, picnics, and shared dinners throughout the area this weekend.

Brian is in physical therapy and treatment for injuries that he sustained in a car accident in February. He and his family will be grateful for your support. It’s only another week until the 1st annual Carz and More show! The East Lycoming Education Foundation has many activities planned for people of all ages. Registration of vehicles is from 9-12 and the show will be from 12-3. Along with lots of great vehicles to view and great people to talk to, there will be food, ranging from funnel cakes to pork dinners, crafts and a live band (Saxman Ravi Evans and his Band) from 1-3. This will be a fun family event for a great cause. All proceeds from this event will benefit the scholarship and educational support programs established and administered by the Foundation. If you wish, you may register your vehicle online until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 16. If you register on show day the fee is five dollars more.

Local boys and girls are busy with practices and games in soccer, t-ball, softball, and baseball. Please be watchful for bicyclists and pedestrians as we all enjoy this nice weather!
