Town Hall meeting set in area for drug and heroin abuse

MUNCY Due to the dramatic increase in drug overdoses throughout the Commonwealth, the communities of Eastern Lycoming County will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting to address local concerns about drug abuse in the local area. The meeting will take place on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Paul Geringer Social Hall.

Local experts will include: Lycoming County President Judge Nancy Butts; Dr. Gregory Frailey, DO, FACOEP, Susquehanna Health System; the local police departments of Muncy Borough, Montgomery Borough, Hughesville Borough, and Muncy Township; the Pennsylvania State Police, Drug Recognition Expert; the West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission, Other experts will present information related to the local area and will be available for questions.

The Town Hall Meeting will also feature a local victim of drug abuse as well as a recovering addict. Stories of their personal challenges with drug addiction will provide attendees with a first-hand account of what each side of the issue experiences.

“This meeting is another opportunity to further the mission of the Heroin Task Force in place now giving the residents of eastern Lycoming County the chance to hear about the effects of drug addiction on their towns and what they can do to help change the conversation,” said main organizer, Judge Nancy Butts.

Paul Geringer Social Hall is located at 213 North Main Street in Muncy. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Parking for the event can be found in the back of the building.
