Montgomery Locals May 28
Montgomery celebrated the Memorial Day holiday with a community parade on Monday. The parade ended with a ceremony in the Montgomery Park with guest speakers and performances by the high school marching band.
The weather cooperated with the celebrations throughout the tri town area. While many of us look to this day as a much needed 3-day weekend, kick-off to summer, and ideal time for yard work and pool openings, I urge you all to remember our fallen veterans and those still serving. Their sacrifices, as well as the sacrifices of their family members, are to be honored and appreciated for more than just a picnic or party.
The Oak Grove Community Center will be holding their June breakfast on Sunday, June 1 from 8 a.m. to 11a.m.
If you are connected to any senior graduating from the Montgomery Area High School, please mark your calendars for the following dates: Awards Night will be Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m. and Graduation will be Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. Both events are held at the Athletic Complex by the football field just off Rt. 54 heading east. Parents, the last student day is a half-day on Friday, June 6.
The Montgomery Footsteps Food Bank is looking for people to step forward and offer an hour of service for the “Feeding the Kids” program for the months of June and July. The food part is taken care of, and Jen, from the program, is looking for people to work with the kids for an hour after they eat. If you have a talent, or interest, or life lesson that you would like to share with the kids, this is a call for volunteers. It might be a safety program, music lesson, nature study, poetry writing, painting, or crafting. Jen would love to hear from you!
