By Staff | Jul 22, 2014

On Friday, August 8, ELHS will bring the Celtic Martins back to Hughesville for a rousing

show to enchant locals! An enjoyable family show will inlude instrumental music and Celtic

dance…… Irish, Sccottish and American folk music, gospel, and country.

Starting at 7 p.m. the high school auditorium will reverberate with toe-tapping music! Tickets may be purchased at the museum during regular hours on Saturday or Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. or at the door.

A Celtic Martin is a member of the dynamic, energetic, and talented Martin family from

Newmanstown, PA! Performing since 2004, Nelson, Elaine, Emily, Melissa, Christy, Brian, Zach,

and Alex Martin, and Elijah (Roeder) have entertained their way into the hearts of people by

performing at New Holland, Reading, Bethlehem, Womelsdorf, and Carlisle.

The Martins have also appeared at the Kutztown Folk Festival; Graeme Park Festival in

Horsham; Celtic Celebration in Camp Hill; Tyrone Irish Festival; Lexington Celtic Festival in VA;

Smokey Mountains Highlaind Games in Maryville, TN; Dandridge Scots-Irish Festival in

Dandridge, TN; and Foxburg Scottish Festival at Foxburg, PA. A year ago East Lycoming

Historical Society hosted them for a lively show in East Lycoming High School auditorium. In

June the Martins were part of the Friday Lock Haven Fly-In celebration. They also have

appeared at Camp Susque at Trout Run, Lycoming Valley Baptist Church in Montoursville, and

St. Basil’s Hall in Dushore. The Sullivan County Arts Council has invited the Martins to be their

central act in a two-day summer festival in 2015.

If you like lively music – fiddles, guitars, percussion, whistles, pipes , mandolin, and/or

concertina – don’t miss this show!
