Montgomery Locals Aug. 6

By Staff | Aug 8, 2014

My family and I took our first canoe trip this past weekend. We discovered, and highly recommend, the Kettle Creek Cabins and surrounding area. There is creek and lake fishing available. There are also canoe and kayak launches, bike trails, and walking trails.

We were busy last week with a pottery camp in the newly opened “Centered Earth” in Montoursville. Camps are offered on a weekly basis for various ages and themes. My son had a terrific experience and will be seeking out another themed camp next summer.

The Montgomery Borough Emergency Management Agency sponsors a weather website for the Montgomery area. This site has been live for the past five years and provides the most current and local severe weather information to community residents. This site is especially helpful in disasters such as floods. The agency also sponsors a weather webcam on channel 16, 28, etc. from time to time. You can click on any of the buttons or maps once on the site for additional information. The link is www.montgomeryboroughema.org.

Please consider joining and liking the Montgomery EMA on Facebook and Twitter for current notifications of pending disaster emergencies. Many thanks to Les Gruver and Michael Gruver for their work on these sites.

Interested in a good read? The Lycoming County Mobile Library, or Bookmobile, visits both the Montgomery and Eilimsport area every other week. Locations on Monday afternoons are at Surplus Outlet on Route 15 and at the Elimsport United Methodist Church.

Take a moment to visit the Montgomery Borough website (www.montgomeryborough.org). On the site you will find interesting information about the history of our town as well as news concerning the Watershed project and Revitalization project.
