Montgomery Locals Sept. 4
Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end to summer. Although we had rain showers over the long weekend, it was nice to have some time to regroup and begin to prepare for fall. In my house, we were busy with home improvement projects and closing the pool. It is always sad to say goodbye to summer vacation, but the smells and sounds of fall are my favorite time of year. I wish you all a happy autumn.
Montgomery will be recognizing Homecoming this year with some special events. The festivities will be held Friday, Sept. 26 beginning with a faculty/student/alumni soccer game at 4:00 p.m. Tickets will be pre-sold for a Chicken BBQ tailgate to be held in the MACC parking lot. Tickets went on sale Tuesday, Sept. 3 and will be sold through Thursday, Sept. 18. Tickets can be purchased from students involved in all school clubs and organizations. Tickets can also be purchased in the high school office. Chicken hand-out time will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MACC. Coke products and Brusters ice cream will also be available for purchase. The football game begins at 7:00 p.m. with crowning during halftime.
Consider joining the Montgomery Historical Society. The group is very active in the Montgomery borough and surrounding area and has recently rekindled their newsletter mailings. Fun Fact of the week: Did you know that Brady Township was established in 1855 from Washington Township and was named for the family of Captain John Brady?
The Montgomery Second Saturday event will be held downtown on Sept. 13.
Mark your calendars for the Elimsport Fall Festival to be held Saturday, September 20. Further details will be included in future columns.
