Montgomery Locals Oct. 15

By Staff | Oct 14, 2014

Looking for some fun fall outings? Don’t forget about the many corn mazes and pumpkin patches around the area. There is also a Halloween inspired option in Pennsdale in the form of a Haunted Barn. If you are looking beyond our community, I would like to recommend the many nature days held at Montour Preserve in Danville, PA. This Saturday, October 18, the Preserve is sponsoring a “Carnival of Colors” nature walk. We really need to support the educational programs there, as we are in jeopardy of losing this valuable asset.

“Voice Play”, a nationally recognized a cappella male singing group and Season 4 contestants on “The Sing Off” will be performing at the WIilliamsport CAC this Friday, October 17. The group will also be holding some assembly performances in local schools leading up to their CAC performance. Montgomery Junior and Senior High students from the music classes will be treated to such an assembly on Thursday.

Please be aware that hydrant flushing will occur at various times throughout the week.

Montgomery events

The fall meeting program hosted by the Montgomery Area Historical Society will feature several of the former “Boys of Summer” who played baseball during the early days of Little League in Montgomery. The panelists are to include Don Bergenstock, Phil Hartranft, Harry Riddell, Glenn Shadle and Jim Stahl. Time will be allotted for input from other early Little Leaguers. Anyone with memorabilia is encouraged to join in a ‘show and tell.’ As this is Little League’s 75th anniversary, a photo will be taken of former and current players marking the gathering for posterity. The meeting will be held Tuesday, October 21 at 7 p.m. at the Montgomery Borough Building, 35 S. Main St., Montgomery. The public is cordially invited to attend.? The next Revitalize Montgomery meeting will be held Wednesday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. at Tickles Music Store.
