Montgomery Locals March 25, 2015

By Staff | Mar 24, 2015

The first day of spring did not deliver sunshine and warmer temperatures. I am hoping the weather can begin to cooperate with all of the upcoming spring sports and events that are scheduled.

Montgomery’s Scout Pack 29 held its annual Blue and Gold Banquet this past weekend and promoted nine area boys to the next level of the Scouting program. Congratulations to these hard working young men. A special thank you to all of the parents who volunteer their time to lead the various groups.

A meeting to organize a summer recreation and food program for Montgomery will be held this week. Volunteers are needed to help with the program and the planning. The program will be held for 5 weeks during the summer. Pastor Viking Dietrich from the Brick Church is currently looking for help and is seeking funding sources. You may contact him at the church if you are interested in helping in any way.

The Oak Grove Community Center will not be holding an April breakfast.

It’s not too late to get me information on upcoming Easter events. Feel free to send me details on Easter Egg Hunts and church services.

There will be a 5k Run and Walk on April 2 at the Montgomery Boro Park. This 3.1 mile course will begin at 9:30 a.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Montgomery Leo Club projects such as Leader Dog, Camp Victory and North Central Sight services. Awards will be given to top 3 male and female runners. For more information contact Joyce McRae at 570-547-1375.

The Great American Clean-up of PA is underway over the next several months. Due to the winter most of our state experienced, there are many resource areas offering up help and services to encourage volunteers. In our area, please contact the Lycoming County Resource Management Service if you are interested in volunteering.
