Montgomery Locals April 1, 2015
I am looking forward to the upcoming holiday weekend. I have been very busy with preparations for this year’s spring musical, now only 4 weeks from opening. This year, the Montgomery High School Virtuoso ensemble will be performing “Footloose”. Performance dates are April 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. and April 26 at 2 p.m. For the first time, we have an online ticket site available for our customers. Simply log on to showtix4u.com. Choose “Buy Tickets” from the left menu. Enter “Footloose” in the search box and scroll down to Montgomery. From there you can choose your own seats and purchase your tickets. Tickets will still be available at the door, but you are encouraged to pre-order to assure seating. You can also call and order tickets at 1-866-967-8167.
The Second Annual Montgomery LEO Club’s Riverside 5K run/walk will be held this Saturday, April 4, at the Montgomery Borough Park. New this year is a 5 Mile Hill Challenge for Vision. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the race/walk beginning at 9:30 a.m. You can preregister at www.parunners.com. For more information, contact Joyce McRae at 570-547-1375. Proceeds will benefit LEO Club projects.
“Revitalize Montgomery” has been very busy planning summer events for the Montgomery borough and surrounding community. Second Saturday events will resume beginning April 11 on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a DJ set up downtown with “All Age Music Jams”, offering an opportunity for local musicians to show off their talents. There will also be space on the sidewalks for clubs, organizations, and vendors to set up tables.
The Oak Grove Community Center will not be holding an April breakfast.
The Great American Clean-up of PA is underway over the next several months. Due to the winter most of our state experienced, there are many resources in the county offering help and services to encourage volunteers. In our local area, please contact the Lycoming County Resource Management Service if you are interested in volunteering.
