Montgomery Locals April 8, 2015
I hope that all of the Luminary readers had a safe and happy holiday weekend.
“Revitalize Montgomery” has been very busy planning summer events for the Montgomery borough and surrounding community. Second Saturday events will resume beginning this Saturday, April 11 on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a DJ set up downtown with “All Age Music Jams”, offering an opportunity for local musicians to show off their talents. There will also be space on the sidewalks for clubs, organizations, and vendors to set up tables. More vendors are wanted and you can contact Tina at Tickles if interested.
The Montgomery High School music and theater ensemble, Virtuoso, will be performing the musical “Footloose” on April 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m. and April 26 at 2 p.m. The upperclassmen cast will be performing in the Friday and Sunday shows, while the underclassmen cast will perform the Saturday show. Tickets can be purchased online by logging onto showtix4u.com. You can also order by calling 1-866-967-8167. Tickets will be available for sale at the door as well.
The Great American Clean-up of PA is underway over the next several weeks. Due to the winter most of our state experienced, there are many resource areas offering up help and services to encourage volunteers. In our area, please contact Becky at Riverside Campgrounds if you are interested in volunteering.
The community is also organizing a summer and food recreation program and met yesterday to discuss the perimeters of the program which I will relate to you when all of the details are finalized. The program will run for six weeks once school is out and it will target all children in the Montgomery community. Pastor Viking Dietrich from the “Brick Church” is taking the lead.
