Montgomery Locals July 1, 2015
Happy July! The Montgomery borough invites all of you to attend their annual fireworks display on Friday, July 3, beginning at dark. Fireworks will be set off from the Montgomery Park with a rain date scheduled for July 5. Also being held over the holiday weekend is a Horseshoe Tournament at the Riverside Campground on Saturday, July 4.
There will be a “Revitalize Montgomery” meeting on Wednesday, July 8 at 6 p.m. at Tickle’s Music Store. Also, Alice Trowbridge has offered to attend the July 15 meeting at the Valley Rehab at 10 a.m. and will be helping the committee work towards their next town project. Projects being considered are a trailhead at the Old Sewer Plant connecting Montgomery to Allenwood and creating a peddle and/or walking trail. A second option is a Peer to Peer Project with the DCNR that would develop a smaller riverfront park between the Little League ball fields and the river. The goal would be to find a way to create a safe crossing from the Little League/Boat Launch to the Montgomery Park across the road. The last option is a Signmaster Plan to develop attractive signs at town entry points.
“Revitalize Montgomery” will continue their busy schedule this summer. If interested, meetings are held twice each month. The first Wednesday of the month is an evening meeting at “Tickle’s Music” Store beginning at 7:00 p.m. The third Wednesday is a 10:00 a.m. meeting at “Valley Rehab” on Main Street. Each Second Saturday event is on Main Street from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A reminder that there is no fee to set up a stand to advertise your businesses, crafts, highlight your organizations, or share the mission of your churches. Participation is encouraged.
The next Second Saturday event will be held July 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street. Also featured will be the first annual car, truck and motorcycle show presented by Revitalize Montgomery and Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the carnival grounds. Live music, prizes and good food throughout the day.
Borough Council will meet on Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Free summer music concerts are being held in Montgomery Park on the last Thursday of each month through September. Concert times are 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. There is a vendor’s fee to set up stands, but there is no fee for non-profit stands. The next concert will be Thursday, July 30, featuring the Hootenany Oldies Band.
Please note that the Montgomery Area Senior Citizens will not meet during the month of July.
