Montgomery Locals Sept. 2, 2015
I hope you all enjoyed a great Labor Day weekend. My weekend was spent at home with various house projects that we hope to finish before the weather changes. It was also an exciting week at school as our athletic teams got underway with regular season games and auditions were held for the fall play.
Thanks to the Montgomery Boy Scouts for cooking up funnel cakes and hot dogs, and Patty for cooking hamburgers and french fries at the last Montgomery music jam in August with the McNett Band. There was a great turnout.
The Muncy Creek Watershed Association will meet this Thursday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Montgomery Borough Hall. Mr. Rob Etters, branch manager of Hillis Carnes Engineering Association will be giving a presentation on “infiltration testing and how soil types affect infiltration rates”. This is a very interesting and important topic due to the ongoing issues with storm water in our region. A light snack will be provided after the presentation.
Girl Scout sign ups will be held on Monday, September 14 at the Montgomery Area Public Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Consider joining Girl Scouts and explore fun and exciting activities that cover every girls’ interests like discovering the outdoors, growing financial literacy skills, running a girl-led business with the Girl Scout Cookie Program and, of course, making new friends. The scouting program is open to all girls from kindergarten to grade 12. Anyone over the age of 18 can become a volunteer. To join Girl Scouts or learn more about volunteering call 800.692.7816 or visit www.girlscouts.org/join.

The festival will kick off at 11:00 a.m. with a parade that begins at the fire hall and ends in the Elimsport United Methodist Church parking lot. The parade will feature the Montgomery Marching Band. Various food and craft stands will be available.
The first planning meeting for Summer Alive 2016 will be held Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Borough Office. Individuals and organizations interested in becoming involved in this worthwhile program are encouraged to attend.
The Montgomery Area School District’s Homecoming festivities will be September 25. The football game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Red Raider field with the crowning ceremony slated for half time.
“Revitalize Montgomery” continues its busy schedule as summer draws to an end. If interested, meetings are held twice each month. The first Wednesday of the month is an evening meeting at “Tickle’s Music” Store beginning at 6:00 p.m. The third Wednesday is a 10:00 a.m. meeting at “Valley Rehab” on Main Street. The committee met on Sept. 2nd and they are currently making plans and suggestions for a River Trail.
