Montgomery locals Sept. 16, 2015

By Staff | Sep 15, 2015

A special thank you to all who helped organize and rode in the annual 9/11 motorcycle ride. The event was a tremendous success. It was wonderful to see that such a tragic event in our country’s history is being honored in such a worthwhile way. Be sure to thank a veteran.

August was the last month for Second Saturday events in Montgomery this year. There will still be one more live concert in the Montgomery heritage park behind the Library during September. It will be held on Thursday, September 24 in the park. Live band to be announced and be sure to bring your lawn chairs. September has been a wonderful month for weather!

Elimsport will be holding its annual Fall Festival this Saturday, September 19. The festival will kick off at 11:00 a.m. with a parade that begins at the fire hall and ends in the Elimsport United Methodist Church parking lot. The parade will feature the Montgomery Marching Band. Various food and craft stands will be available.

The first planning meeting for Summer Alive 2016 will be held Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m .at the Borough Office. Individuals and organizations interested in becoming involved in this worthwhile program are encouraged to attend.

The Montgomery Area School District’s Homecoming festivities will be September 25. The football game kicks off at 7:00pm at Red Raider field with the crowning ceremony slated for half time.

An important message from the Montgomery Red Raider Foundation: September 30 is the deadline for nominations for the Red Raider Foundation’s first graduate Hall of Fame. Forms and necessary information for nominations can be found in Montgomery at the Borough Office, Jersey Shore State Band, Montgomery Library and Weis Market. Forms can also be picked up at Muncy Bank & Trust in both Muncy and Dewart.

“Revitalize Montgomery” continues its work as fall draws near. If interested, meetings are held twice each month. The first Wednesday of the month is an evening meeting at “Tickle’s Music” Store beginning at 6:00pm. The third Wednesday is a 10:00 a.m. meeting at “Valley Rehab” on Main Street. Plans are in the works to organize a connective river front trail.
