Tues. Oct. 6 learn up to date facts about breast cancer at the Meck Senior Center, 50 Fitness Lane, Muncy at 11:30 a.m. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and handouts will be provided. On Thurs. Oct. 8th at the same time, also learn all about apples. October is also National Apple Month.

Sat. Oct. 10 there will be an “Autumn Tea” at the Clarkstown United Methodist Church, hosted by the Ladies of the Clarkstown United Methodist Church and proceeds will benefit the missions fund. To make a reservation call 584-0155 or 916-0328 after 2 p.m.

Sun. Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. the Muncy Heritage Park & Nature Trail, 601 Pepper Street, Muncy, there will be a program “Wagging Tails and War Tales” with Bill Poulton from the Muncy Historical Society.

The Lycoming Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their annual Columbus Day Luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Noon at the First United Methodist Church in Muncy. John DeWald will present the program on scrimshaw and engraving. He will cover the history, meaning, and application of scrimshaw throughout the ages. Hosteses for this meeting are Betsy Battles and Marlene Branton. Members are reminded to make their reservation by Tuesday, October 6 to Treasurer, Nancy Coughlin.

During Liver Awareness Month this October, the American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood and platelets to support liver transplant patients and others needing blood products. On Friday, Oct. 9, give blood at Muncy Valley Hospital from 10 to 3.
