Montgomery Locals Oct. 21, 2015

By Staff | Oct 22, 2015

My family and I had a great weekend of fall events. We visited an area corn maze and chose our pumpkins for carving. We also took some time to explore the site of Alvira, learning its history along the way. The weather was colder but it was still beautiful to enjoy the leaves during breaks of sunshine.

Congratulations to the Montgomery Marching Band for their stellar performance in the South Williamsport Mummer’s Day Parade. The band put on a zombie-themed show in honor of Halloween and travelled to Knoebels after the parade for further Halloween based activities.

Montgomery fall sports are wrapping up their regular seasons in the next few weeks. If you haven’t had a chance to check out a game, consider supporting one of our fall teams.

The First Baptist Church of Elimsport will be resuming its Kids Club on Sunday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. All children ages 4 through 6th grade are invited to come for an exciting time of games, songs and Bible learning. Parents must register students in person on the first night they attend. Youth Group will be held for older students at the same time as Kids Club. This is open to anyone in grades 7 through 12. Questions can be directed to Pastor Todd at 570-547-6277.

The Montgomery “Red Raider Foundation” will be holding a “Pretty in Pink” painting experience on Saturday, October 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Participants will be supplied with a canvas and oil paints and will be guided through a painting project. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations can be made by calling Roberta Spect at 570-515-0068 or Deb Engelman at 570-547-2310.

Montgomery’s annual Halloween parade will be held Saturday, October 31 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Trick-or-treating will begin directly after the parade.

Also on Oct. 31st all softball players, umpires and referees are invited to Staggert’s Grove in Montgomery near the Surplus Outlet to dress up for Halloween. Prizes and trophies will be given out for the best costumes and teams. For more information call Laura Taylor at 570-560-0324.

Please consider following @MASDnews on Twitter or via our YouTube channel, The Raider Tube. Both of these digital mediums are created and maintained by the high school Broadcasting class. The intention is to help share Montgomery news and events with our community if they are unable to attend an event.

“Revitalize Montgomery” continues its work throughout the fall season. The next meeting will be held Weds. Nov. 4th at “Tickle’s Music” Store beginning at 6:00 p.m.
