The Montgomery Junior and Senior High School observed Red Ribbon and Breast Cancer Awareness Week October 26-30. Students highlighted these worthy causes with dress up days and a drug awareness assembly.

Montgomery’s annual Halloween parade was held Halloween evening. The parade featured community and school clubs and organizations as well as the Marching Band.

Parent/teacher conferences will be held this week on November 5 and 6. A reminder to parents that students will be off school on those days.

Veteran’s Day is quickly approaching. Please contact me with any special celebrations and observances that you would like to advertise.

The monthly Borough Council meeting will be held Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the borough office. A special proclamation will be presented by mayor Andy Onufrak to honor one of Montgomery’s centurions, Helen Kreppeneck who turned 100 on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd.

Veterans will be honored at the Montgomery Historical Society on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. All local veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. The event will be held in the Adam Room below the library and will feature MAHS member Marion McCormick speaking on the WWII B-17 Bomber “San Antonio Rose”. This was the aircraft that crashed February 21, 1944 in the Netherlands killing her brother, Lt. Delmar Decker, the plane’s navigator.

Virtuoso, the Montgomery High School music and theatre ensemble, will be presenting its fall play November 20 and 21 at 7:00 p.m. Students will be presenting the holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Questions can be directed to cmcnear@montasd.org.

The First Baptist Church of Elimsport has resumed its Kids Club on Sunday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. All children ages 4 through 6th grade are invited to come for an exciting time of games, songs and Bible learning. Parents must register students in person on the first night they attend. Youth Group will be held for older students at the same time as Kids Club. This is open to anyone in grades 7 through 12.
