Hughesville locals Dec. 2, 2015
Mother Nature is allowing us a rather comfortable transition to winter, and I do not hear anyone complaining! I am sure that some of the deer hunters would like a small amount of snow to make spotting and tracking deer easier, but the rest of us are enjoying this gorgeous fall. It really doesn’t seem possible that we are in the season of Advent and that Christmas is only a few weeks away!
Do you have your “5 to Drive” ticket yet? Don’t delay, visit any of the participating GHBA member merchants in the Hughesville area, pick up your ticket and have it validated at five locations, then submit it for your chance to win one of the wonderful prizes.
A great place to take your ticket is the East Lycoming Historical Society. This weekend you can experience the “Polar Express” with Conductor Rob. Museum visitors of all ages will delight in the magical train display and retelling of the story by Chris Van Allsburg. You can also enjoy a ride on the horse-drawn wagon featuring “Kate” and “Classy.” An added benefit to a museum visit is that you can check off many names on your gift list with items from the ELHS museum gift shop. Whether you are looking for gifts for children, friends, co-workers, teachers, pets, or any others, there are items that will be a perfect fit. Be sure to ask about the series of local artist works that the ELHS has made available, and take the opportunity to renew or purchase your ELHS membership for the coming year. The society is offering a separate prize drawing for those who update their memberships by December 6, 2015.
Another great place to visit is the Hughesville Area Public Library. Whether you are looking for the latest book to read, a magazine, movie, or puzzle to enjoy during your leisure time, or a quiet place to read, study, or use the free Wi-Fi, HAPL is the place for you. Also available is the Friends of Hughesville Library Book Room, packed with print and recorded books you can purchase for bargain prices. Library hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9:45 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 5.(Closed Wednesday and Sunday)
Have a great week!
