Muncy Locals Mar. 9, 2016

By Staff | Mar 9, 2016

Tonight Raise the Region begins with many local charities seeking your support. This is a wonderful opportunity for so many charities to raise money such as CASA, Son-Light House, The Vineyard Youth Center, Picture Rocks Veterans Park, Safe Kids PA Lycoming County Partner’s Efforts, as these are some that came across my desk.

March also brings the celebration of Arbor Day and you can receive 10 free white flowering dogwood trees when you join the Arbor Day Foundation with just a ten dollar contribution before March 31. Go to arborday.org/march. I understand that with a little bit of care, these trees can grow well.

Congratulations once again to Muncy Area School District for being recognized as a gold-level recipient by the American Heart Association for being a “Fit-Friendly” worksite. Everyone benefits from a healthier work environment.

PennDot is looking for volunteers for this year’s Great American Clean-up that began March 1st and will run through May 31st. Last year 6 million pounds of litter was collected from Pennsylvania roads and trails. To get involved go to www.gacofpa.org. Weis Markets and Sheetz have already volunteered.

Farmer VanBuskirk said he was the first customer at the relocated Sunset Ice Cream and Hoagie shop in Muncy on East Water Street near the bridge. He had a hot dog and fries. The store used to be on Main Street in Hughesville.

On Thurs. Mar. 17, St. Patrick’s Day, Meagan Murray announced a community night at Hoss’s restaurant. Eat dinner there that night and tell them you are there for Meagan’s Box Foundation, and they will donate 20 percent of your total check to the cause. All of the money she collects will go to providing Christmas gifts for 2016.
