Muncy Locals Apr. 27, 2016
Congratulations to District Judge Jon E. Kemp for completing his certification once again for his service as a member of Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System. This educational program is held in Harrisburg, and is a week long instructional program designed to keep him current in a variety of legal topics and management techniques. These are required for his cases and to supervise our district court office. According to the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the Magesterial District Judges represent the “grass roots” level of PA’s judicial system. Besides handling tenant and landlord matters and vehicle cases, Judge Kemp can also issue arrest and search warrants, hold arraignments and preliminary hearings in criminal cases.
Also congratulations to Amber Weeks of Muncy and Abby Bressler from Hughesville who will both be graduating in May from Penn College with a degree in Health Information technology. With 14 other students, they recently held a seminar on campus for 84 other students who hope to go into the same field. They coordinated speakers on health information, medical recordkeeping, consulting and coding. They also ran and coordinated the seminar for this “capstone course.”
The Muncy Public Library is getting ready for lots of spring and summer activities, not only for kids but for adults as well. To stay posted on their upcoming activities, be sure to visit their Facebook page. Flyers are also available at the front desk for their summer reading program.
Little League opening was very festive Saturday morning with lots of good food, raffle baskets and some eager kids ready to play. A special thanks to all the sponsors this year, volunteers and coaches.
