Montgomery Locals May 11, 2016

By Staff | May 11, 2016

Scores of gleeful Little Leaguers and a crowd of adoring parents and grandparents gathered at the baseball diamond in Clinton Township Park on Saturday, May 7 for Opening Day. The high school’s Lady Raider Softball Team stood at the outfield fence and formed a tunnel to cheer on the kids and give them high-fives as their names were announced when they ran across the field. Considering the enthusiasm on all of the little faces, it looks like it’s going to be a great season. After all the players and teams were announced, the Lady Raider Softball Team sung the national anthem. Once the ceremony was over, the Little Leaguers were given goodie bags that included tickets for a hot dog and soda from the snack bar, and sports bottles with Gatorade mix. Fortunately the rain decided to wait to until after the festivities had ended. Montgomery Little League currently offers children the chance to participate in T-ball, coach pitch, baseball, and softball teams. Thanks to all of the coaches, sponsors, team moms, and volunteers who donate their time and talent to make the program possible.

Congratulations to Frank Adams for winning the Montgomery Area Public Library’s drawing for the month of May. He received a gift certificate for The Station House.
