Muncy Locals May 18, 2016
If you haven’t been to the George C. Meck Senior Center through STEP, Inc. recently, then I highly recommend a stop-by to see all the fun activities that they do, especially on a Friday. You can enjoy adult coloring, making crafts, or even get your nails done. Great nutritious, lunches are also served there Monday through Fridays. I enjoyed hot ham and bean soup and a crisp, fresh chicken salad with cole slaw. You can stop by anytime during the week to check out the menus or different recreational opportunities as well. If you are over 60 you can walk in or just volunteer. Volunteers are always needed and a survey is located on all the tables asking for help and input on what kind of services you think are needed for senior citizens. Also the program is part of the Pennsylvania’s Department of Aging, in part with STEP’s Independent Living Pathway, and they want you to be aware that they will investigate any reports of abuse, neglect or financial exploitation of anyone over the age of 60. The Senior Center is located in Muncy Township behind the East Lycoming YMCA on Fitness Drive. For more information call Debby at 546-2542.
Last week was National Women’s Health Week and Susquehanna Health presented an award through Penn College to Amber Lynn Weeks from Muncy for her commitment to the health care profession, and her demonstration of academic excellence. Congratulations Amber for your teamwork and strong leadership! She has graduated with a major in health information technology.
I visited the Williamsport Growers Market on Saturday for some fresh lettuce and salmon, then went to Styers Market and Stauffers Greenhouses in Muncy for some great looking flowers. I planted some of them already but hated to see the frost nip here on Monday morning. The rest of the annuals I kept in the garage until the warm weather returns.
I want to wish a “good luck” to all of the theater players from Muncy and Hughesville High School who will be part of the Ray of Light Awards this Saturday afternoon at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. The “Red Carpet” festivities will begin at 12:30 p.m. They deserve our praise and support.
