Muncy Locals July 7, 2016
It’s almost fair time and I have been asked to help out with so many different vendors that I wish I had several of me to do everything. Right now it’s planning time and various local organizations are getting ready for one of the most important times of the year.
The 4-H club, dairy association, master gardeners, ticket sales, and live entertainment are just a few ways to experience the Lycoming County Fair. The Muncy Garden Club has been meeting weekly to prepare the Horticulture building for the exhibits, students are getting their art work ready to hang in the Greevy building, and the animals are being groomed to don ribbons.
On a side note, I want to do something about those distracting robo calls at home. The National Do Not Call Registry is a free consumer service from the federal government. As many of you know, you can go online at www.donotcall.gov and register your phone number for free. It states on the website that “most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. You can also verify a registered number and/or file a complaint. Now, I have been registered since 2004 and we are still receiving unwanted calls, often no one is there on the other end. Supposedly we can file a complaint on the website for these calls. But be aware, if you do receive a phone call claiming it is from the ‘National Do Not Call Registry’, you must ignore it because it is most likely a scam. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission.

At the June picnic/meeting, Teri Snyder and Barb Shamburg from the SVQG spoke about forming a group to make charity quilts. They want to get the ball rolling by having a meeting tonight at the Pennsdale church (large classroom, room on left as you come in the hall) Wednesday, July 6th at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in making quilts for a charity or has knowledge on doing this kind of project is encouraged to attend. They are looking for ideas. If you can’t make it and have some thoughts, please email them to Teri Snyder at terisnyder@windstream.net.
