Muncy locals Aug. 31, 2016

By Staff | Aug 31, 2016

It’s nice to know that our small community has such a diversity of culinary delights for all palates. Muncy has Italian with Orlando’s, authentic Greek with Main Street Grill, Asian with Mulan’s and now we have Mexican with Loredo’s. I went to the grand opening on Friday and to my surprise, I discovered everything there is made fresh to order. It is located inside the Sunoco gas station on Rt. 220, so if you are in a hurry, this would make a nice stop for something good to eat.

As we ponder through our Luminary archives for this year’s 175th anniversary to do research for our history articles, I came to a quick realization on how we now communicate with one another. Facebook and social media have taken over what the ‘Locals’ columns used to do. Many of you have said how much you enjoy reading Peeks of the Past, and this is a good reminder of how times have quickly changed with the rapid pace of technology. But I hope many of you still turn to the newspapers to get your information. I thoroughly enjoy holding it in my hand!

Congratulations to local resident Carrie Anne Noble for winning the Realm Award for Speculative Novel of the Year for her book, “The Mermaid’s Sister”, a fiction fantasy story written for young adults.

Muncy 4th Friday was a success again and several photos of the many sights and people who were there can be seen on the Muncy Professional Business Association’s Facebook page.

Next month, on the 17th of September downtown Muncy will be filled with cars. This is another big draw for Muncy, and an event well worth a stop. Also our legislators are planning the annual senior expo for the 13th at the Pennsdale Fire hall.

Be safe and if you travel, keep a close watch on those school buses. We will be off on Monday, September 5 for Labor Day.
