Hughesville Locals Sept. 14, 2016
School is back in full swing and students are busy with reading, homework, athletics, and other activities. With the temperatures in the 90s, I am really glad that the schools are air-conditioned and the teachers don’t have to try to keep the kids’ attention with only open windows to cool the rooms. Some schools had to let students out early during this hot weather because they have no air conditioning.
Remember those bad ol’ days? I do some substitute teaching, so I know what it’s like to try to keep the students focused on their assigned work when the room is uncomfortable. I left the high school at 3:15 one day and felt like I had walked into a furnace. I hope the coming autumnal equinox will bring more moderate weather.
Hughesville Area Public Library has a wide range of programs for patrons of all ages. Check the list of events below for some of the many things going on at your local library!
Watch for school buses, student drivers, and children walking or biking to and from school. Let’s keep everyone safe.
