The Darker Side of technology revealed

By Staff | Oct 14, 2016

HUGHESVILLE – On Tuesday, October 18th from 6 to 7 p.m. a free presentation will be held at the Hughesville High School Auditorium on the “darker side of technology”. This is a serious topic with possible life altering consequences. “We are pleased to be able to bring you this information so you may better protect your children and families from this often hidden danger,” said Michael Pawlik, Superintendent of East Lycoming School District.

Presenter, James Dill is a 30-year veteran of the PA Office of Attorney General. He spent 27 years as an agent supervising the unit on technology and surveillance.

He was then promoted to Deputy Chief and placed in charge of all Investigative Services. Currently Dill is a law enforcement instructor for Alutiiq International LLC. He is president and CEO of Innovative Technologies and Investigative Solutions LLC which specializes in technology training and consulting for law enforcement, government, school districts and victim advocate organizations.

This unique and eye opening presentation will discuss such things as sexting, self-destructive photo apps, secret messaging apps, information hidden in digital photos, location sharing, sextortion, and the way students are hiding things from their parents, teachers and police. Although a technology based program, it is designed in a way that both the novice and expert will both understand and appreciate.

“Our children have very readily grasped the use of technology, but without the experience or maturity to understand the long term consequences of some of their actions,” added Pawlik.
