Muncy Locals Mar. 8, 2017

By Staff | Mar 8, 2017

How about that snow squall last Friday afternoon! It really caused some havoc on the roads with very limited visibility. A 35 vehicle pile-up made national news. Interstate 80 westbound was closed for several hours between Jersey Shore and Loganton, and a detour came as far as our area to White Deer on Rt. 15 for motorists. For many it came unexpectedly so it is always good to be prepared if you get stranded like that while traveling. It is wise to have extra water and non-perishable snacks on hand, blankets, and portable phone chargers.

I visited the senior in Muncy Township for the Mardi Gras party. Visitors and family members had fun with trivia and making masks. They also organized a bus trip to the Philadelphia flower show coming up on Mar. 11 through the 19th. The bus filled up pretty quickly so I was unable to register. For the flower enthusiasts, the theme this year is “Holland: Flowering the World” and will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. You can also follow the show on Facebook.

The Great American Cleanup of PA started this month on Wednesday, March 1st and will end on a Wednesday, May 31st. PennDot will supply free trash bags, gloves and safety vests for any organization who wants to organize a clean-up which can be litter, illegal dumping, beautification projects, special collections and educational events. Just register at www.gacofpa.org so that during this time trash can be picked up and taken to the landfill with prior approval.

March’s full moon will appear on the 12th and the spring equinox is on March 20th. I still see a lot of cold and unstable weather in the forecast, but remember to jump the clocks ahead one hour this weekend.
