Muncy locals Mar. 29, 2017

By Staff | Mar 29, 2017

Here’s some good news from PennDot – eligible retirees on fixed incomes will be able to apply for a discount on their vehicle registrations under House Bill 188 that passed the House last week. Currently, PennDOT offers a vehicle registration at a discounted rate of ten dollars to retirees who receive Social Security or other pension income that does not exceed $19,200 annually. The bill would increase the income limit to $23,500. The last increase was in 1998. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.

Also on March 20th Resolution 88 was adopted and passed to celebrate the contributions of women throughout the Commonwealth’s history, and recognizes March as National Women’s History Month in Pennsylvania. This year’s theme is Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business which clearly shows that women can succeed in leadership roles and careers. The Luminary has been highlighting the accomplishments of some local women as well as historical figures throughout March.

Get the kids ready to Run the Y! Starting April 10th on Mondays and Wednesdays after school they can attend the East Lycoming YMCA where they can experience the art of running, cross training, swimming, group exercise, weight lifting and more to build their confidence and ground work for a world of lifelong wellness in their path. This is great exposure and an opportunity for youth to get physically active in our local area.
