Hughesville Locals Apr.5, 2017
April has arrived and although the recent weather has not been balmy, we can hope for a gradual rise in temperatures, longer daylight hours, and bulbs and plants flowering all around the borough. Of course, we also will be experiencing the sights and sounds of highway reconstruction, as the improvements to Water Street/Route 118 have begun. As we all become accustomed to the detours that will be in place for most of the spring and summer, please use extra caution. Broadway and Fifth Streets are not usually busy streets, so walkers and bicyclists may not be anticipating the extra traffic. Let’s all keep everyone safe.
East Lycoming Historical Society has reopened the museum at 66 South Main Street, Hughesville. Hours are Saturdays and Sundays Noon to 3 p.m. Please stop in for a visit. The gift shop will be open, where the society offers many local publications including “Ghost on the Allegheny: the Hotel Essick” and “Moreland Memories,” plus many locally hand crafted items. The displays are continually changed and updated to reflect the season and recent acquisitions, so make plans to visit frequently throughout the rest of the year.
A great opportunity for fellowship and fun is available on the first and third Wednesday of each month from April through November! The Christian Ladies Group (CLG) will meet at 1:00 on those dates at Tivoli United Methodist Church. The next meeting is Wednesday, April 19.
