Business association launches first Muncy 4th Friday for the season
MUNCY – Although there are just 3 Muncy 4th Friday events for the summer season, committee members of the Muncy Professional Business Association (MPBA) work all year long on putting these events together. At this month’s meeting held June 1st at Orlando’s, plans were finalized for the the first event to be held this Friday, June 23rd from 6 to 9 p.m. According to president, Ann Baker there are 51 registered vendors that include local artisans and four food trucks.
The Lycoming County dairy princess will also make an appearance while serving ice cream at Bruster’s.
The Kids Zone will be moved closer to the Library and fire station, and will include kids sand art and dance club performers. Baker encourages everyone to use the photo booth that will be set up for “photo opps” and explained how to use hash tags to promote Muncy and the 4th Friday events. “Lycoming County starts here to promote Muncy,” she announced.
The popular dunk tank will be back, as well as the bounce house, face painting, a super hero and a clown handing out balloon animals.
Live music will be performed by the A-Team thanks to sponsorships from Murray Motors and Muncy Restoration Works. According to committee members, there were many sponsors this year, and MPBA members will be wearing tee-shirts listing all the sponsors on the backs.
Be sure to stop by the MPBA table and register for a raffle for a new kayak. Each month there will be a new giveaway to win.
Although new benches are in the process of being ordered for downtown Muncy, visitors are asked to bring lawn chairs for more seating. Twenty flower pots were purchased by MPBA and fresh flowers were planted by the streetscape committee to line business fronts on North and South Main Street for the summer.
For July, look for a pie eating contest, a bike giveaway and live music from the Kinsey band.
