Muncy Locals Aug.16, 2017

By Staff | Aug 18, 2017

Congratulations to student research assistant Jeremy M. Dorward, of Muncy. Dorward is a plastics and polymer engineering technology major who helped provide some hands on activities at the 19th Annual Extrusion Seminar & Hands-On Workshop, a 3 day event held recently at Penn College.

There’s some new technology out there for our automobiles called V2V, meaning vehicle-to-vehicle which will allow cars to talk to each other wirelessly. Federal safety regulators are proposing that all new cars be equipped with this. Be aware of texting. There are more driving distractions than ever. However, they say older adults have fewer pedestrian and vehicle collisions. Fortunately there are safety laws for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorized wheelchairs.

Identity theft is still on the rise and if you’re caught in this unfortunate circumstance, you can report the theft to the FTC by going to identytheft.gov/Assistant#. After entering the information, Identitytheft.gov will create your report as well as a recovery plan that is specific to your situation. AAA recommends creating an account with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) so you can save your report and recovery plan as online documents. Then take this report to your local police department to file a report of what was stolen. If you do not have access to a computer, call 1-877-438-4338. The recovery plan will explain the relevant steps you will have to take to get through the ordeal.

This is Little League Week. Enjoy the parade. Our school bands have been in full practice.
