Muncy Locals Aug.23, 2017

By Staff | Aug 25, 2017

As small as these communities are of which we live, there is much to do, despite the pre-conceived notion that small town living is boring. There are programs and museums to choose from, restaurants that are not chains with a diversity of ethnic cuisine, events and activities for kids, church suppers for families, weekend breakfasts served at local volunteer fire departments, and weekly engaging library programs for all ages. I have been trying for weeks to get to some of the Amish markets to get produce, but something always comes up.

Last weekend we had the Monster truck at the Fairfield dealership in Muncy. There are only 8 of them that travel across the country.

I also found out that an unusual circus is coming to Pennsdale the second week in September, the Cirque Italia. It is a spectacular water performance from Italy and it will be here for 4 days starting Sept. 7th.

Community flyers boast a wide range of activities, many of them community fundraisers from skating parties to 5Ks and pig roasts. I find them posted on most bulletin boards at local retailers

And if you like to play cards, come to the Meck Senior Center this Friday night at 5 p.m. for some competitive card games. Flea markets, yard sales, and antique stores provide a great resource for treasure hunting. Get ready for the upcoming Bloomsburg Fair next month as the Muncy Garden Club is planning their floral designs for the theme “Hooked on Books.”

Enjoy the rest of Little League and the summer.
