Corvette Club and car show coming September 16 to Muncy

By Staff | Aug 30, 2017

MUNCY The Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club is scheduled to host their annual car show on Saturday, September 16 in downtown Muncy. It is held every September, always the third Saturday. Last year Club members delivered a $10,000 check for students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s automotive restoration technology, representing proceeds from its popular “Corvettes on Main Street” car event.

Awards from the Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club Scholarship Fund are made each fall to a first-year student from the organization’s 10-county membership area who is enrolled full time in automotive technology, automotive service sales and marketing, collision repair technology or automotive restoration technology.

“In 2014, our club started the Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club Annual Scholarship Fund benefiting the automotive programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology, because we felt there was no better way to keep the passion and one’s love for cars alive than to support the young adults of today that have a genuine interest in the automotive field,” said Al Clapps, chair of the club’s car show committee. “In three years, our club has awarded $15,000 in scholarships to students in Penn College automotive programs.”

The club (www.susquehannavalleycorvetteclub.org), which holds a number of events throughout the year to raise money for the scholarship fund, was formed in 2003 from a small group of people who became friends through Corvette ownership.

“Join us on Saturday, Sept. 16, for our 10th annual ‘Corvettes on Main Street’ in downtown Muncy,” Clapps said. “Thank you to all the car enthusiasts who have donated to our dream of keeping the passion alive!”
