Muncy locals Sept. 20, 2017
Muncy High School is planning many activities for the fall. Next Wednesday 8 marching bands will be performing on the football field with some incredible acts and fun music. This is one to watch!
On Friday, Sept. 29 a fundraiser for cancer will be kicked off by Hannah Freezer. She has been making tee shirts all month for childhood cancer awareness month as she herself had to overcome cancer in elementary school. She wanted to reach out to the Muncy community in return for all the support that was given to her, and so, she has designed a tee-shirt that will be on sale during the football game that night. All proceeds she receives will go to St. Jude’s hospital for childhood cancer research.
A new club also has started at the high school to help curb hunger. Known as Muncy’s M Club, they are partnering with the Central PA foodbank and stared their own BackPack program. Each backpack will be filled with non-perishable food and given to those students who need it the most. It was reported that there are close to 350 students at Muncy who are eligible for a BackPack which is a national program that first started in Arkansas. Brooke Walters who is a teacher at the school is the advisor for the club which meets after school. They need to raise $1500 so they can get a matching grant and donations will be welcome to the school. There are about 30 students in the club who are trying to raise the money.
Kudos to Bonnie Ingram of Muncy who is interested in giving her time assisting with end-of-life care for families throughout the Susquehanna Valley through the work of Hospice. She is a new volunteer who has chosen to help during life’s most difficult moments.
Get on board with the Meck Senior Center as they travel to Hyner View State Park the first Tuesday in October for their “Step’N Out” program. Every senior center in Lycoming County will have a trip scheduled to experience some local history, entertainment and landmarks.
Enjoy the first day of autumn on Friday as we will be experiencing some ideal fall weather!
