Montgomery Area High School held its annual Homecoming on Friday, September 22nd. The ceremony began at half-time in the traditional style when all of the female members of the court were paraded around the track in the back of convertibles as the announcer read the names of

each girl as well as her activities, interests, and the name of the parent who was escorting her.

When the convertibles reached the far side of the fifty-yard line, each nominee was escorted onto the field and stood under a balloon-decorated arbor where she was announced. The Red Raider Marching Band was on the field as well, playing The Temptations doo-wop classic “My Girl.”

The Queen and the Princess were crowned during the Homecoming ceremony. The King and the Prince were crowned the following night at the Homecoming dance. The male Tenth and Eleventh Grade Representatives were recognized at the dance, as well.

The Homecoming Princess was ninth-grader McKenzie Heasley. The freshman court was made up of fellow nominees Jeweliana Tawney and Kylie Persing. The Homecoming Prince was Ben Marino.

The Tenth Grade Girls’ Representative was Karlie McLaughlin. The 10th grade boy’s representative was Denym Peppard.

The 11th grade girl’s representative was Courtney Jamison and 11th grade for the boys was Brendan Rooker. Homecoming Queen was senior Grace Bopp. The senior court was made

up of nominees Megan Chamberlain, Abigail Felix, Courtney Skelton, and Maddie Solano-LaForme. The Homecoming King was Damien Doane.

The ceremony concluded with the Queen and Princess riding together in a convertible in a final lap around the field. Congratulations to all of the court members for being selected by your fellow classmates!

The Homecoming game was against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, which ended in victory for the Red Raiders with a final score of 32-12.

Montgomery events

Wed. Sept. 27 Toddler Tales will be held at the Montgomery Area Public Library from 11 to noon for ages 1-5. Please register in advance by calling the library at 547-6212.

Sun. Oct. 1st An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held at the Oak Grove Community Center in Elimsport from 8-11 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits, sausage gravy, fruit, toast, and beverages.

Wed. Oct. 4 Toddler Tales will be held at the library from 11 to noon.

Mon. Oct. 9 The Clinton Township Supervisors will meet in the Municipal Building at 6:30 p.m.

Tue. Oct. 10 The Montgomery Borough Council will meet in the Borough Building at 6:30 p.m.

Sat. Oct. 14 the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company will hold their second annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Roll from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Activities at the carnival grounds will include many vendors and the

firemen’s kitchen will be open. The Pumpkin Roll will be held on W. Houston Avenue at 2 p.m.
