Muncy Locals Oct. 25, 2017
It’s National Popcorn Poppin’ Month, a time to celebrate the most magical of all snack foods, plus this may be a better treat to give to kids this Halloween.
Congratulations to Kiley Ranae Nierzwicki who participated in the 69th annual Pennsylvania State Flaming Foliage festival in Renovo held Oct. 15. Kiley represented Muncy High School vying for the honor of state queen.
Also congratulations to Snoneez Frelin who is the new executive director of Favors Forward, a non-profit in Lycoming County that aims to help those suffering from hardship such as job loss, a disability, illness, death, natural disasters, divorce and lack a support system. Shoneez taught special education at Hughesville High School for 14 years and helped those with special needs set goals and find some meaningful employment. She also graduated from Montgomery High School and has close ties with our area.
If you like to sing, Tom Ruhl, choir director at First United Methodist Church in Muncy is looking for some new members for their annual Christmas Cantata. Rehearsals will be Thursday evenings. Call 546-8030 for more information.
I am following up with the information I collected from the Full Circle Future Harvest Group that meets at the Muncy Public Library at the “Everything Garlic” session. I planted the cloves over the weekend from the largest bulb I had left over from last year. I started with some garlic given to me by John Bendick of Benton. You need to start with a farmer’s crop, not one from the grocery store, and preferably organic. I planted mine on the East side, and this past July the crop did well. I started two years ago and so far it has been successful. Not only that, it is one of nature’s best immunity builders. Some tips from local sources are provided this week for you.
