Santa is coming to town

By Staff | Nov 22, 2017

MONTGOMERY – A big Christmas parade is planned for Saturday, December 9th at 1 p.m. in downtown Montgomery.

Santa will be arriving on Main Street sitting on top of a FIRE TRUCK! There will be cash prizes for floats too. George Nash is the coordinator for the float registration, and he can be reached at 570-547-6007. Floats can register free of charge and will be arranged in order for the parade at Weis Markets in Montgomery at noon.

“We expect a record turnout, so pre-registration for floats are recommended. We expect the parade to be an hour long as of now,” said Nash.

There will be free hot dogs, cookies and hot chocolate along with Christmas craft projects for the children to make on Main St. and sponsored by the Lions Club at Santa’s house on Henry Hand Drive.

Santa will be available for photos in front of his house once the fire truck drops him off at his new house. This is all free, but The Lions are asking everyone to bring a can of food for the 80 needy families in Montgomery that Footprints foodbank serves, or a toy for the Montgomery Toys for Tots toy drive.

This event is sponsored by the community of Montgomery and its businesses. Halliburton made a $1000 donation for a huge helium balloon like ones used in the Macy’s day Parade. For more information contact Tina Tickle, Tickle Music, 30S. Main St., Montgomery at 570-547-6007.
