Hughesville Locals Nov. 29, 2017
Have you entered your “5 to Drive” ticket? There is still time to visit local merchants and get your Greater Hughesville Business Association (GHBA) entry form, have it stamped by at least 5 businesses, and turn it in for the Sunday, December 3 drawing. The prizes range from gift certificates for local services and goods to the top prize of a late-model car! Prizes are available for you to see at Doug Spotts Appliance. This is a great promotion sponsored by the GHBA to encourage shopping at local establishments, and is a lot of fun, too! Let’s all help keep our local businesses thriving. With fewer places at the Lycoming Mall to actually see, touch, and try on items we might choose to purchase, our small business owners provide a personal touch that one cannot find electronically. Besides, winning a prize, of whatever type, is always fun!
If you have youngsters, don’t forget that GHBA is offering a “Golden Ticket” award. Fill out a 3 x 5 card with parent’s name, phone number, and child’s name (aged 10 and under) and drop off your entry at Shelia Barto’s Jewelry & Gifts shop. One lucky child will win a golden ticket to ride with Santa in the annual Christmas Parade!
We regret the passing on Nov. 19th of long-time and well known Hughesville resident, Janet Kohler. A memorial service was held this morning at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was 92 and enjoyed reading the Luminary.
