Muncy Locals Nov. 29, 2017
In recognition of Infant Safe Sleep Month, Lycoming County participated in a ceremony last Monday at the River Valley Regional YMCA. The resolution was acknowledged by Rep. Garth Everett of Muncy.
A recent report from PwC, a major tax employer service, says within 15 years, artificial intelligence will take over 38 percent of U.S. jobs. This trend will continue, offering some automated positions. We will still need doctors and lawyers, teachers and journalists, however, we will be using more machines or robotics for better accuracy. The age of the ‘Jetsons’ is upon us.
If you missed the big train show at Park Place and Taber Museum, don’t despair. The East Lycoming Historical Society will have its annual Polar Express exhibit this weekend in Hughesville and the annual Whistle Stop Train Show will have plenty of trains to see on Sunday, December 3rd at the Woodward Township Fire Company. The Loose Ties Model Club has a free display every Sunday from 10-3 at the Silver Moon Flea Market on Rt. 15, and in Danville you can see a very realistic sound and light show of fiberoptic fireworks at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church. More than 1,000 icicle lights decorate the display! You can spend the entire weekend just visiting nearby train exhibits.
It’s a festive time to revisit ourselves, and cold weather brings us to indoor entertainment. The chorale concerts are coming, the first one is this Sunday and the Repasz Band is playing for free at the Community Arts Center, Tues. Dec. 5th at 7 p.m. Take a family trolley ride in Hughesville this Saturday for the 5 to Drive and again for the Festival of Lights at Brandon Park in Williamsport and Candy Cane Lane in South Williamsport. Just park your car; tickets are available at the transportation museum behind the Taber Museum and enjoy the ride.
Check out the tree of lights at the Lycoming Mall, always a great fundraiser sponsored by the Salvation Army, and vote for your favorite one!
