Muncy Locals Feb.21, 2018

By Staff | Feb 21, 2018

Representative Garth Everett announced that the Muncy boat launch can be open for recreational purposes, but not for boating. Walking will be permitted in the access area for public use once the weather breaks and the barriers removed, which is expected in about two weeks. However, the boat launch ramp will remain closed until money is raised to build an alternate site. It has been “plagued by a sandbar” due to flooding. The access is located off Acquatic Road in Muncy borough from Rt. 405 before crossing the bridge heading to Montgomery. It is not on Railraod Street. It has been closed since July of 2016 when someone got stuck in the built up sediment.

The Son-Light House in Muncy has announced that for the first time their state fund allotment has been totally depleted, and they are just half way through the fiscal year. Now more than ever, donations of cereal, non-perishable food and money are badly needed. Hams will be distributed for Easter, and an average number of 494 households visit the Son-Light house monthly. Our donations are badly needed.

The Muncy Library is continuing to offer some educational and interesting programs, many on health and wellness. On Sunday there was a session on essential oils,Tuesday night a presentation on heart disease and next month Betsy Waddell, a pharmacist from Muncy, will discuss nutritional cleansing. Also there are some enlightening garden workshops coming in March and April at the library, all given from local experts. What wealth of information, this area has.

This is President’s week and a good time to shop for bargains. Check out the clearance racks for winter clothing, reduced prices for housewares, furniture and mattresses.

Think spring – we are almost there!
