Montgomery Locals Mar. 7, 2018
Be sure to mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 13th because Virtuoso will be presenting a one-time only vocal recital called “Singing on the Edge.” Virtuoso is Montgomery Area High School’s theatre ensemble for 9th-12th grades. If you’ve never seen this extremely talented group of young people perform, you’re missing out!
According to Carina McNear, the teacher who leads the group, “Singing on the Edge” provides a unique opportunity for the students to perform songs from musicals that can’t typically be performed in high schools due to their content. The pieces are hand-selected numbers that provide students “tremendous solo, duet, and small group numbers that are appropriate and educational.” Some of the songs are from musicals that are modern classics such as “Rent,” “9 to 5,” and “Hamilton.” This recital is in addition to their Spring Musical “Into the Woods” which will have three showings at the end of April. Admission to “Singing on the Edge” is free and will be performed in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m.
