Muncy Locals June 6, 2018

By Staff | Jun 6, 2018

For the next two weeks accolades will be given to many students who have worked hard and completed their academic year for 2018, and much of their success can be contributed the the parents, teachers, coaches, and all those who have given them their support.

Muncy School district will have one teacher retiring this year, and that is Bonnie Wisowaty from Myers Elementary School. A celebration end of year breakfast was held Monday morning. Frank Jankowski will be leaving and a new principal will be coming for the upcoming school year. Frank will be getting a promotion as an Assistant Superintendent in his new school district in Selinsgrove. Best of luck to both Bonnie and Frank.

Congratulations to Linda Poulton of the Muncy Historical Society for her induction to the Muncy Academic Hall of Fame. Student Alexander Laubscher gave her a wonderful introduction on Thursday night, May 24. Evelyn Derrick played the piano for the evening and the scholarship awards.

This past Friday marked 138 years for Muncy’s graduation and the weather held out with no rain, and a nice breeze on the front lawn of the high school.

Time for picnics and fun. Take advantage of the nice parks nearby. The Muncy Heritage Park has a pavilion with a picnic area and Lime Bluff Park in Wolf Township just added electricity around their area, perfect for family reunions and graduation parties.

The Master Gardeners of Lycoming County will be presenting a workshop on how to preserve and keep cut flowers from your garden on Saturday morning June 16 from 10 to 11:30 at their county location just off Warrensville Road. It is free and you can hold a spot by calling 877-345-0691. This Saturday morning from 10 to 11 you can join the Master Gardeners for an informal walk in their gardens and they will point out all kinds of stuff from growing tips, pests and diseases and best practices plus give out all kinds of helpful advice. You can bring anything from your garden that you want to know more about, and they can help with questions and provide some valuable information. They will do this rain or shine so dress accordingly. June is the perfect time for growing gardens.
