Montgomery locals June 27, 2018
Montgomery Borough has recently announced that it had to close the skate
park due to safety concerns. The ramps are mounted on a surface that
has become too worn out and something needs to be done about it.
However, the Borough is looking for suggestions about what to do with
the space. The skate park has been there for nearly a decade and a half,
but they are wondering if skateboarding is a trend that has waned in
popularity and the area could be better used. Previously the skate park
had been a tennis court. In decades past, the tennis court was
intentionally flooded during the winter and turned into an ice skating
rink.
If you have any thoughts or input about what to do, the Borough and the
Community Development Corp want to hear from you. You will have some
opportunities to share your thoughts at the Community Development Corp
meeting on Thursday, June 28th at 6 p.m. The group is meeting at the
park and everybody is welcome to attend.
You can also share your thoughts at the upcoming Borough meeting on
Tuesday, July 10 at 6:30 p.m.
So put on your thinking caps. What would you want to do with the space?
