Hughesville Locals July 11, 2018

By Staff | Jul 11, 2018

It’s time for the Lycoming County Fair! This year is the 148th annual county fair, and you can expect to find many of your favorite foods, exhibitions, and displays of goods and livestock. There are some changes, too, including the lower admission price, and free admission for children age 12 and under. This admission fee does not include the rides, however, so be prepared to pay for all of the mechanical rides. The weather forecast for the 10 days looks like it will be pretty hot, although the highest temperature expected will be about 90, so lemonade and ice cream will probably be big sellers on the midway! Be sure to wear a wide hat, and stay hydrated whenever you visit the fair.?

The DeWire Center in Eagles Mere will be hosting the Dan Levinson Jazz Band this weekend. Featuring vocalist Molly Ryan and an amazing group of standouts form the New York City Jazz scene, this should be a really fun concert in the cool air of the mountains of Sullivan County. Ticket prices and more info is available on the Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts website at www.emfoa.org.?

Another great place for memorable summer fun for all ages is the Hughesville Area Public Library. The staff has prepared a variety of programming that will entertain and enlighten young and old alike. Check their schedule of activities and take some extra time to pick up some great summer reads.?

As a reminder, Fair week means lots of extra traffic, and many visitors are not as familiar with our streets and alleys, so please use extra caution and be observant for pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, and drivers who may make sudden changes of direction. Let’s make it our goal to have our police force have a boring time!?
